Hi! I’m Ashleigh Barnett

I’m the Founder and Principal Consultant at Uplift Consulting – your specialist People/HR consultancy.

I help businesses connect the dots between people and performance.

I’m an HR Practitioner based in Palmerston North (Palmy born and bred) and I’m also a wife and a mum to two young kids.

Over the last 10 years I’ve worked across a range of business types – including public sector, tertiary, fast-food, warehousing and marketing to name a few.  I’ve held primarily generalist HR roles focused on partnering with businesses to connect operations and people.

What do we do and why are we different?

At UC we do things differently because we know a little bit more about being on your side of the fence.

Before moving into HR my background was in operations. This included a number of years in management at McDonald’s working in restaurants that turned six figures a week. I come from the coal face. I’ve seen first hand the frustrations caused by having an HR function that doesn’t understand what the business is trying to achieve (and frankly, sometimes, just gets in the way).

We value and respect your operational and business-specific expertise and so we work with you to tailor solutions that suit your specific needs.

My priority as an external HR consultancy is to ensure that the advice, guidance and people practices that we support you with are aligned to your business goals. We support your to improve performance, not get in the way of it.

I firmly believe that when you look after your people, your people will look after your business for you. Our tagline “helping businesses to connect the dots between people and performance” is a reflection of this.

  • Graduate Diploma of Business Studies (Human Resource Management)

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Equine Studies)

  • Associate Member of the HR Institute of New Zealand (HRNZ)

  • Accredited Team Management Systems (TMS) Consultant

  • Accredited Extended DiSC and FinxS practitioner
